Today Dr. Lyon took wonderful care of my son. He took the possibility of appendicitis seriously (although it turned out to be viral gastritis) and with concern. He explained what needed to be done and moved forward promptly. Nurse Ayanna took great care while taking blood labs and providing medicine, and Rina with ultrasound did an awesome job interacting and making sure he was comfortable during procedure. I have been to this ER twice now and have been so lucky to have had such a great experience with the staff/doctors/nurses here. The care and experience is top notch. The wait time for both times I went was minimal and was seen by doctors within 10 min of arrival. Thank to for a wonderful experience.
Hope you have time to wait. We waited for 4 hours in the waiting room not being seen by anyone. He almost went into a diabetic shock that we were unaware of. So please choose wisely.
My grandfather recently visited the UPMC ER for minor issues (vomiting and fatigue). Shortly after checking in, he was approached by a chaplain asking to pray for him, followed by a nurse asking about a Do Not Resuscitate order. I understand that my grandfather is older, and I know these questions can be part of medical protocol — but the timing and delivery were completely inappropriate. My partner was taking here by ambulance after a pretty bad car accident. The service given was HORRIBLE not that much was given to begin with! They never had any monitors hooked on no IV no blood pressure check NOTHING. My partner took a direct hit on the drivers door whole left side was crushed they did a few x-rays and were ready to let us go home.
