I went by ambulance with chest pain yesterday afternoon. The nurses and emergency crew were awesome, but after 6 hrs I saw no doctor. No cardiologist was called as this region does not have one. I have been waiting with intermittent atrial fibrillation since May 24th for s referral to see a cardiologist. I was told yesterday that it would be at least 3 months before my first appointment with a cardiologist on an urgent referral. This ER needs to close if they cannot provide a medical doctor for cardiology care.
Wait time was as to be expected. Dr. Bloom attended to my needs and though there was nothing he could do he gave me the info for a neurologist who after a short wait was able to see me. I am so thankfull and want to thank all the staff for their kindness and help..
We went to emergency on Good Friday, Hopping to get ultrasound done. Completed Triage 1 and RN did not mentioned that they are not taking any patients due to understaff. We have waited 4 hours and finally Doctor has asked to see us in Triage 2 and guess what, doctor said, he has only 1 minute just to listen to our conversation. Doc was not interested in giving us a referral for Ultrasound to be completed any places (Dartmouth, QE2, or any place). Doctor said, he will schedule a referral at cobequid for NEXT day.
