Renting our canoes from Ely Outfitting was a pleasure. They were most helpful and told us we did not need to make a separate stop to pick up our paddling permit but they would issue it when completing our rental agreement at their store. They e-mailed and called me periodically in the the weeks before our trip to make sure we would have an exciting and safe trip. I would definitely rent from them again Amos Stoll

Ely Outfitters set us up for a beautiful and relaxing canoe trip in the Boundary Waters. They planned, packed and organized all of our meals and cooking gear, including writing up easy recipes with options for “most tasty method” and “quickest method.” All of our food and cooking gear was in a backpack-style portage pack that was easy to get in and out of the canoe and easy to set up with a bear hang system. Highly recommend. Use them every year for my annual boys’ trip to the BWCA. Doesn’t matter if we have nine guys who need a shuttle to the entry point or four guys who transport the canoes ourselves. They always take care of us. Plus they have coffee and showers if you need it.

The staff were very quick to reply with answers to questions from the first contact. Everything was very streamlined and left no doubt that I was being looked after by a very professional operation. I will definitely be using them in the future for questions and gear rental.
