I went into the ER with an eye infection yesterday, and was seen by Dr. Elvira Villafuerte. She is very smart, kind, and considerate. She performed skilled and expert eye exams on me, and was able to quickly diagnose me and send me away with the effective medication. And when I went back right after because the pharmacy was not open, she called and made sure they prepped my medicine and even gave me a pack of tissues to use for my teary eyes. I’m a nurse who was recently seen by Dr. Villafuerte for an acute neck condition. Unfortunately, my experience was very negative. She came across as condescending, lacked empathy, and did not take my pain seriously. Instead of addressing the urgency of my condition, she treated me like a drug-seeker, which was both upsetting and unprofessional. As a fellow healthcare provider, I expected compassion and respect, but received neither. I would not recommend her to anyone looking for understanding and effective medical care.
