Steve Martin was a wonderful tour guide. We have always lived in KW, enjoying the market and surrounding countryside. Even so, we learned so much about the farms we pass by daily, and gained a wonderful insight into the faith and culture of Old Order Mennonites.
The ride of ok. Not anything impressive to see. But the tour guide only talking about church way of life was a tad boring.
This is a unique idea, and we definitely felt like we were customers of a lovely family run business rather than a big corporation. Essentially a tractor and trailer ride through some of the local farmland, the gentleman on the microphone is a mennonite and we learnt more from him about their history, customs, fractions and ways of life than you could ever hope for through reading. I took my parents here on August 19 for a day out and we all enjoyed the wagon ride! It is a unique way to experience the Mennonite area around St. Jacobs, especially as I had never been on a tractor-pulled-wagon before (bonus points as a transportation lover). While it is true that the ride took us through roads that are publicly accessible and there is no farm visit included, it is a very worthwhile experience as I would not have known which roads to drive on, where to stop at or what to look out for if I were self-driving... read more
We went on a wagon ride through beautiful peaceful Elmira country side. Saw Mennonites school farms horse carriage etc. Bought maple syrup and desserts . Saw maple syrup tapping setup It was fun
