I am a different (better) guitar player/performer from only a handful of lessons with Ellen. She is truly helping me to “settle in” and “settle down” in my approach to playing. She taught me a new and easier way of playing in the the key of E (that I had avoided) which helped me hear/feel that key so differently and write one of the coolest new songs I’ve written lately! Ellen is simply THE BEST! I’m a fan girl for life!

I always look forward to my lessons with Ellen and try to fit one in whenever my tour schedule allows because she is the most affirming and effective teacher for me and my goals. Not only does she help prepare you to play any original or cover that you’re trying to learn, but she also has helped make me feel more capable as a songwriter by helping me understand the theory behind the music. 5 years ago, I bought a $100 guitar in a junk store and spent a year trying to teach myself how to play it by watching YouTube videos. I wish I could say that I discovered I had a God-given gift for music and went on to headline at the Ryman several years later, but alas, that did not come to pass.
