Just because it's not illegal doesn't mean it's good business. Remember that before renting with Elkins. Properties are old, aging and, in some cases, filled with animal odors they chose not to fix before we moved in. Treats customers like children who've never had to deal with difficult decisions, and drains every ***** they can from customers. Not necessarily illegal, but a horrible experience all around.
They are the worst company to deal with and rent from in ***********. You're better off staying in the dorm, if you're an ** student, or renting from someone else, even if you have to pay a little more in rent. Horrible management/ownership and if you think you're going to get your full deposit back, think again. They will nickel and dime you on everything and use as much of your deposit they want to. Go to mycase.in.gov and search ‘Elkins Apartments’ under businesses. You’ll see the thousands of students they have sued. A majority of the lawsuits ended in a default judgement because the defendant failed to appear. I really like Elkins apartment homes and their customer service! My house is in great shape and any problem we have encountered has been fixed within the week. The Elkins office is responsive and their maintenance staff is very friendly.
