Elizabeth P Tjarks ARNP discharged my wife Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids with an order for 400mg of Gabapentin, 3 times a day, but while she was in the hospital she was only take 1 300mg pill per day. The first day on that dose she could not talk or respond or understand what was being said to her. Increasing the dose of that medication, 400% when she was going home, was negligent on her part. There were no instructions or warnings of side effects from her or the hospital.
