First, this is a great place. While I think it really stretches the definition of a speakeasy, it does have that feel. Ihave been to speakeasys that were well hidden and required passwords that were cahnged daily. This is more like a bar with the main access in the alley behind the restaruant. It is popular enough that there is often a line and a doorman in plain sight. So…. I stopped by at about 11:30 on a Friday night and after seeing the sandwich board sign out front, I found my way to the back door. Instructions were to ring the doorbell once and wait. After waiting for a few minutes someone came to the door and told us they were “closed tonight.” Strange given the hour posted on google were until 1am and the sandwich board was still outside.
