Very much wish for more places such as Elbow River Healing Lodge that takes a compassionate understanding and knowledgeable aptitude regarding good health of all three physical+mental+spiritual health. Miigwetch!
I found a new family Doctor here since moving to Calgary and she is amazing. The nurses are also wonderful. My boy is very shy and the staff has made him open up, feel welcome and just got his playful side out on a few occasions. They are so helpful and supportive and I'm glad they were taking new patients. I appreciate all of their efforts and hard work.
My doctor is great but the booking staff let me slip through the cracks, missing appointments, not telling my doctor about urgent things even though I’m playing it down. They seem to not be able to handle tough or certain requests for me to see my doctor. For that reason I feel like they’ve been ignoring my requests and I’m going to have to leave the clinic because they have missed about 5 appointments and I don’t feel comfortable calling any of them ever. I really appreciate my Family Dr that I’ve had for years here! She’s been very helpful and understanding. The nurses are also amazing! 3 stars, because years ago I had a bad experience with a therapist here. They didn’t know how to work with Indigenous trauma or come with a compassionate approach. Because of this, I don’t trust or feel open about my trauma anymore. I feel like they came from a very Western perspective, despite claiming their Indigenous identity.
