The Buck Island community in Corolla, NC has been our preferred resort community for about 15 years. This was the fifth time renting through Elan and the second time renting one of their premium properties Mermaid's Retreat. Unfortunately, during our recent stay, we mistakenly locked ourselves out of our rental home in the evening. We are very sorry you were disappointed with our service. Our emergency number is in service so I'm really not sure what number you dialed. Our maintenance man does live 25 miles away and in an effort to minimize your wait time he was only trying to figure out a quicker solution. He did arrive within 45 minutes of your call and open the home for you. He even came back the next day to apologize after hearing that you felt he didn't perform to your satisfaction. We stayed at the House on the Hill in July 2017. There were about 16 adults and 3 toddlers. We had a great time but struggled with the rental company. Upon check in the house was not that clean with cobwebs and dead bugs. We did notify the office and received no resolution. The next day we had to contact the office as we noticed a set of sheets had a blood stain and needed a replacement. In response to the review posted by ***** ******** on 7/29/17: Our records indicate this group checked in on 7/16/17; we have an employee that calls every guest to be sure everything is okay with the property and she called this guest on Monday 7/17/17. The leaseholder (not *** ********* indicated everything was great besides the door that was in their bedroom that led to the outside was stuck.
