In 2016 I was admitted to Peace Health with a mysterious condition: my gastrointestinal system had shut down. I had two doctors and a bunch of kind nurses that were trying to help but nothing was working. Dr Skalabrin is by far the most knowledgeable and passionate Neurologist I’ve known. My daughter suffered a rare stroke and then brain herniation. Dr Skalabrin literally stayed by her for weeks in icu, even sleeping at the hospital in case she was needed. My daughter was an extremely complicated case and I trusted her with my daughters life many times over. She always took time to communicate with me and never made me feel rushed. I would give her far more than 5 stars if I could.
I am sure Dr Skalabrin is a competent neurologist; however, she never communicated with my family about my mother’s condition and became visibly angry at me when I asked her about some collective concerns my family ( surgeons, physicians and nurses) had about my 92 year old mother’s care while on the neurology floor at Riverbend. Dr Skalabrin is fortunate to have such a wonderful Nurse Practitioner who has a wonderful bedside manner to make up for her lack of emotional intelligence and compassion.
