The food at the dining room is superb. I just wish they had more diverse options for people with a discerning palate. Otherwise, the staff was great, and the atmosphere is fun and romantic.
In general, it seems like the staff at El Tovar Hotel has been taught to seem inconvenienced by the presence of so many annoying tourists. The welcome at this restaurant was honestly the weirdest thing I've ever encountered. I was made really to feel horrible by my presence. Questioned many times about what my reservation was (clearly visible on tock). Then seated by a grumbling gentleman who seemed genuinely annoyed at our presence. The gentleman (I use this term loosely due to lack of another suitable noun) who seats you is VERY rude. Considering the restaurant is trying to portray a high end atmosphere, their choice in greeter totally invalidates any hi end experience. This greeter isn’t suitable for a Walmart, let alone a “nice” restaurant. The restaurants lack of judgment in staffing makes me question the managements real capabilities. Great venue. Service was OK, food was typical NPS vendor fare. I wish cocktail lounges did not allow kids though.
