Following a back surgery and experiencing an issue I was referred to Laufer fora follow up consultation. Laufer recommended a HUGE surgery. He explained the surgery in very speculative terms, lacking in confidence or protecting himself. He even noted that the issue I was experiencing could not be repaired. Since Laufer’s plan would have required a long rehabilitation period where the results were doubtful at best, I consulted with 2 other MDs both of whom advised against Laufer’s plan. First, she sees patients with different cancers so not a specialist of just one as I was led to believe. 2nd, she literally LAUGHED at me during my first to visit after diagnosed w cancer. Disgusting! I asked nothing funny. It’s not funny to ask if I should talk w my adult child re diagnosis! It’s not funny to ask if being a certain ethnicity is a risk factor. & it’s not funny to ask for lesser radiation scans! Nothing short of excellent. Dr. Owens and her team gave me exemplary care throughout my cancer treatment and post as well.
Where do I start!? Here is the short version of what what I can write a book on... If I can give unlimited stars with this review, I WOULD!!! Dr. Owens and her team, are saints and miracle workers. Dr. O'Reilly is a most compassionate, brilliant, and empathetic physician. She truly cares and is relentless in combating pancreatic cancer. Researchers throughout the world collaborate with her and she is well known in all circles related to pancreatic cancer.
Dr. Laupher's sensitivity and clarity was a huge blessing for our family in the hardest of times. He took the time to communicate completely, making sure that we understood the choices we were making. He made my mother see what needed to be seen and did it with compassion.
Dr. O'Reilly is an extraordinary doctor & most of all she is an exeptional human being by showing for her patient so much care and concern! The cancer disease it self is very frustrating and a very though but good oncologies like her make this illness a little less rough. It's not just the treatment but the care and empathy shown by her and her staff which makes the world a better place to live in!
