Dawn is a fantastic host. If you're looking for something fancy, this isn't it. The building is cool and historical. It's a good family place to stay, the common areas are filled with toys for those of all ages. The views are amazing.
Tremendous story on all the soldiers that gave their lives in the Civil War. They came from the Maine area and are notarized in this historic museum and lodge located at Peakes Island off Portland. The curators are very knowledgeable and can teach you the whole history.
The most unique stay ever! Be sure to bring your history lovers to this beautiful 1800s lodge. Bill was the host with the most, giving us the full building and history tour when we arrived. All facilities (bathroom, kitchen, appliances) are communal, facilitating great conversations with other guests. This is a unique alternative to a hotel in Portland, and for people who want character out of their accommodations. If you're going as a couple, I can't recommend room 9 enough.
