I was referred to Dr. Alfrey for surgery recently (March 2026). The preop appointment was fine and answered my questions around what the procedure would consist of. My day at Marin Health started well with great preop care by the nursing team. I think the surgery went well, though I had to deduce this on my own as everything after the surgery, in terms of communication by the surgeon, his care team, or the Marin Health staff was inconsistent or absent. I found Dr Alfrey to be serious and clear about the medical issues, but also considerate and friendly about everything else. I haven't yet gone under his knife, and may not have to, since he doesn't seem to be the sort of doctor who pushes one to that end, but so far I'd rate him whatever the highest rating is.
