About this business

Serving up a big city twist on New England cuisine, Ed's Lobster Bar is a must try for seafood lovers. The restaurant is small, featuring a long raw bar and a few tables in the back. The decor is contemporary and minimalist, and the ambiance is lively. A popular spot with both locals and tourists alike, the restaurant typically has people queuing up to sample the delicious specials. On the menu are favorites like the must-try lobster roll, lobster ravioli, bucket of steamers and lobster bisque. Expect a wait as the restauran... read more

great roll – What are the last three writers talking about. Ed's roll is all lobster meat and light on the mayo. I live in the neihborhood, enjoy eating in quaint and charming atmoshpheres like Ed's, and have not been dissapointed thus far. My husband and I are offended by the racial comments previously posted. If sitting next to New Yorker's is unattractive or uncomortable, there is always Kansas. PS- I love caucasian, black and yellow people all the same.

Can I please have some lobster in my LOBSTER roll? – I total agree with the last review, where's the lobster Ed? The lobster roll I had was basically mayo and a hotdog bun, at least the fries were good, but I didn't come in for fries. The chower was not up to par, being from New England myself I have to give it a thumbs down when there's only one clam within the whole soup. The fact that we were all bunched up next to strangers didn't help the whole experience either, it felt like I was eating in chinatown sharing a table wi... read more

Head over to Red Lobster instead – Chower is watery, Lobster PotPie is far from what you would expect a PotPie to be (basically a soup with a fitted cracker on top). Besides that, and the lack of eating space, everything was just fine once we left.

Come on, get real – In this city, in the Lobster Roll department, we now have at least a half dozen pretenders to the throne. Here's my take: Ed's--bad news, no lobster, too much mayo. Mary's--not enough lobster, too much mayo, and they use frozen lobster. Pearl Oyster Bar--swims in mayo, not much meat (and it's frozen meat, to boot), too expensive, and strange filler material. Black Pearl--a LOT of meat, just a hint of mayo, and no filler. Mermaid--small, frozen meat, good amount of mayo. I would have hoped that a new place... read more

My compliments to the chef – I went with several friends. We got there right when it opened were seated immediately. The waitstaff was great. We got the raw sampler, and fried oysters..which were wonderful. I could have just eaten them. All of ordered lobster rolls - who know a hotdog bun could hold such wonderfulness. For dessert we had the blueberry creme brulee - it was amazing. All in all a great dinning experience. I will totally go back.

I feel nauseous – My fiancee and I went after work tonight very excited. We couldn't wait for something similiar to Mary's and Pearl closer to home. The atmosphere is great, although quite crowded and noisy. It doesn't help when the owner is sitting next to you and is yelling across your table to his friends on the other side of you. Beware of any seafood restaurant in NYC serving $2 oysters. They have to be $3-$4 each if they are of decent quality. I ate some and am now sick. They looked a little odd too. The caesar salad h... read more

Amazing Oysters! – I went on a weekend night with my friends. We each ordered a different dish - lobster roll, scallops, sea bass, and lobster salad. We shared a plate of oysters and they were so good and fresh. One of my friends never had oysters before, but we got her to try one and she loved it (and had more). The prices of the food and wine are reasonable. The staff was attentive and friendly. I will be back and look forward to their lunch opening. Oh, I almost forgot the pickles - I usually don't eat the pickles on my p... read more
