We’re new to the U.S. and were conditionally approved for an apartment, only to find out later that it was an affordable housing unit (this wasn’t mentioned during the application process) and we weren’t eligible. However, the rejection letter listed a completely different reason - insufficient credit history, even though we were ready to provide a guarantor. At least our application fee was refunded, but the process lacked transparency.

We had a horrible moving in and moving out process with the building. We were support to move in on a Saturday and I waited over 5 hours and contacted sister properties to figure out why the leasing office was closed and no one knew why. Then the following Monday they didn’t open until around late afternoon which meant we couldn’t actually move in until our 3 official day of the lease (no refund, no apologizes).
