I first came across East West maybe 25 years ago. I made the trip up to Amenia and learned a lot in that one trip from Tony's mother, a real bamboo fanatic, who had the business then. Now it is in Tony's, hands, her son. He too, is a real bamboo whisperer. I had three big clumps of fargesia rufa, green panda. he came down and divided them up and replanted them for a very reasonable fee, especially considering all the very special knowledge and tools he brought with him.
