Duke's ER is like a third world catastrophe. Staff wander around as patients languish in the waiting area. As I write I am in hour 8 waiting for a vaccine shot ordered about 6 hours ago. Save yourself time and frustration...drive to Chapel Hill or Raleigh.
Do NOT go here if you have an emergency. Arrived at 145 pm on 6/18/21 with chest pain waited in the waiting room for seven hours and left without a doctor consult as they could not provide an estimate as to when I would see a doctor. The place is under staffed and the staff they have are not trained well. Their triage system is a disaster as people who arrived after me and were less sick were taken before me. This is not the Duke quality service and brand we used to know and love.
It is 6:45 pm, been here since 11 am with chest pain, shortness of breath and like an elephant sitting on me. Have to come here because of organ transplants. Worst ever, so disgusted. Like they prefer you to have what ever in the waiting room. I moved here for Duke, now sorry. Is it lack of staff maybe. Also know so many people call ambulance for a stubbed toe done 3 weeks ago, via personel I know. Now needs to be protocol for ambulance and ET uses. Find a Primary Dr. ER is for emergencies
