The surgeon is exceptionally gifted. My surgery was in April and with 4 months of physical therapy, I feel brand new. The billing/office management is completely inept. Received 4 different quotes for out of pocket costs and none of them were correct. Also, the follow-up care is atrocious. You have 2 options: leave a message and wait 3 days or go to the emergency room. There is nothing in between. If you have a question, wait 3 days. If you are in pain, wait 3 days or go to the ER. Dr Hanselman provided excellent care for me when I needed surgery on my Achilles tendon. After seeing a different local practice and being misdiagnosed, he analyzed my injury and was able to determine exactly how to repair it. I have been able to return to normal activities and I’m very grateful to have found Duke Orthopaedics Heritage.

I have been with Duke since I was a kid from endocrine, pregnancy, primary care, etc. However, I feel my time is not valued with Duke Orthopedics. Each time I have come I’ve waited for over an hour to be seen. I understand things happen. However, it surprises me that not one person comes in to give an update or anything on the wait time. I purposely make my appointments for the morning time to hopefully avoid this. We are expected to be here 15 minutes early and if we were late, we would get charged a no show fee.

Was in severe pain, did not help that the nurse named Betty was extremely rude and inconsiderate. From my interaction with her and seeing the office, it seems like she doesn’t just treat the patients this way, but also the other staff members. The employee at the front desk named Diane was very kind and thoughtful though.
