Our Bill went from being between $150-$250 a month to an outrageous $500- to sometimes even $800 plus. I have called many times to complain and see what the issue is but I am told it is our fault and that they can send someone out to check, but we will be charged for it and they won’t give an amount. We have tried to fight them on this and failed. I have lived in 3 states in my lifetime, Duke Energy is the ABSOLUTE WORST I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!! I have filed complaints with every agency I can find. Did you know that they can randomly run your credit WITHOUT your knowledge, then add what they call a "deposit" even though you have been a customer for 6 years? If you don't pay the deposit they will disconnect you !! Don't bother calling customer service either, it will just be someone from another country reading from a manual. They are thieves!!

Id give zero stars if I could on June 24, I switched my service from my previous address to my current address and I am still receiving bills from my previous address. I still haven’t received a bill for my new address and I have my confirmation email stating that my service has been switched. I have power at my new address and their automated system is an absolute joke. Emmitt is by far the worst customer service agent I’ve ever spoken to. Not only did he continually cut me off when speaking. He kept mispronouncing my name. Then he proceeds to treat me like a child all bc I asked to speak to someone other than him. My matter still hasn’t been resolved and AI is no help. Duke Power needs to do better and get a better hiring staff.
