It was like walking back in time. The bakery had an old time feel, and I mean that as a compliment. The young lady behind the counter had a huge smile and was beyond friendly. What a sweet kid. The doughnuts were perfect. I'm a doughnut snob, and these were, quite possibly, the best ones I've ever eaten. I guess there's a reason Duke's has been around for, what, 75 years. This is absolutely unacceptable. I placed and paid for an order that was scheduled for pickup, and I was specifically told to arrive by 5:00 PM. I showed up at 4:30 PM only to find the business had closed early. No phone call. No text. No email. No notification of any kind. I drove 20 minutes for nothing because someone couldn’t be bothered to notify customers that the store was closing early.
