My son has invested 11 years in Dubuque Karate Club. Now, due to no fault of his own, he was kicked out of the club because of an ongoing conflict between Grand Master and his son. I am disgusted by the lack of integrity, lack of respect, lack of self discipline, lack of everything that is an integral part of Martial Arts .
As a family, we have been very pleased with the Dubuque Karate Club. My grandson is in the Dubuque Karate club and specifically attends the Galena, IL, location (which is held at the ARC). The instructors are kind, they do a great job working with kids with different temperaments, and they are learning so many things from Karate to discipline.
My son has been attending for about 2 weeks now and he loves it! It's definitely worth the money and the life lessons he will learn! Everyone is very friendly and helpful!
I am sure that the instruction the provide is adequate, but their children's program throws many red flags. They refuse, even on a first visit, to allow a parent to watch them interact with the child, and give no reason for a parent to trust them. I am all for teaching kids to be self sufficient, but when we are talking about kids as young as 5, and they forbid a parent from watching the adults interact with the children, that is a red flag the size of a football field.
