About this business

It all began in 1972 when Don Lombardi, at age 26, opened a small teaching studio in Santa Monica, Calif. He called the studio Drum Workshop, offering both private lessons and monthly workshops. After more than thirty years of innovation and tireless dedication to improving the way drum products are made, DW drums, pedals and hardware are the standard by which all others are measured. To accommodate an increasing need for space, the company moved to its current facility in Oxnard, Calif., in 2000. That same year, it created ... read more

I have never had a dew kit, or anything by them. It wasn’t intentional, it just wasn’t really ever any option when I was searching. The other night, I saw a film on dw. I was so blown away at their attention to the heart and soul of all things art/music/freedom, and good. I prdered a black satin rata tom , bought a mount, and hooked that bad boy onto a boomer stand!!!! I freakin love it!!!!! I may have opened Pandora’s box!!!!

After owning 4 TAMA drum kits (and I still do), I decided to give a chance to DW. I bought myself a PDP kit and I was really disappointed by the drums quality and also with a wrong bass drum hoop. I had to insist after 20 days of no answer to my email. Very bad Quality Control from PDP drums. (TAMA drums from the same price range are much better built ). Very bad After Sales Service. So now, I'd much rather get a TAMA Star kit over a DW kit.

Did the tour and very cool to see / learn their process and see the passion the craftspeople have for their jobs.

Once upon a time, I played Tama, but I always admired Drum Workshop. The products are high-quality, the site has factory tours, their PDP brand makes their product affordable to students and working musicians, and the customer service is absolutely friendly. Heck, I had to do a job as a vendor for them back in the day and they treated me with courtesy and respect instead of being overbearing. So when it came time for me to get a new drum set, I decided to invest in a Design Series thanks to its response and relative affordab... read more
