My husband & I had an amazing dinner celebrating my birthday. Our server Juan was phenomenal, such a nice guy who really went above & beyond to make our night special. He even brought me a surprise dessert to the table. The food was SO delicious, you can tell the chef’s know what they are doing. Everything we had was great but we especially recommend the sweet potato brioche & pork belly appetizers & the tomahawk steak.
Well, this restaurant knocked my socks off! Best steak in Florida! It was the A5 Waygu 14oz cost $560 we shared it!!! Best desserts in Florida specifically the carrot cake & crème brûlée. Didn’t expect it to be this damn good, but it was!!
First, the good - the atmosphere is clean, spacious and upscale. Many higher end restaurants in Tampa feel crowded and overbooked. Driftlight did not, which is definitely a positive. Next, the bad. At this price point, which is on par with well-known Tampa restaurants like Ponte, it simply doesn't deliver. Our bill for 3 was over $500 and we only had 1 glass of wine among all 3 of us. Don’t get fooled by this terrible steakhouse. I couldn’t eat their low quality steak then brought it home and throw it away IMMEDIATELY!
For the prices they charge, I expected a meal I’d be talking about for weeks. Instead, I left wondering how such average food comes with such an extraordinary bill. Overall, the restaurant seems to rely more on its location and presentation than on delivering a truly memorable dining experience.
