Bought a 2017 Elantra in September 2024; was told by the dealer it had a replacement engine with only 60k-miles. After ~8 months/5k miles, head gasket failed; my mechanic found no clear evidence the engine was replaced and signs of head-gasket sealer in the coolant. Dealership declined to help in any meaningful way, and when I pushed ultimately only paid a tiny fraction of the original cost to buy it back. Do not trust this dealership. They sold my fiancee and I a car which exploded after a few months. This wasn't an accident, either. Baha, the owner, installed a new engine on this car right before selling it to us, the same engine that failed. But, according to our mechanic, the engine appeared to have never been replaced. Instead, this dealership added a sealant into the engine which would temporarily mask the issue by covering the inside of the engine with a gunk that would stop leaks for a short amount of time, long enough... read more
