Have 2 nites in Sept, looking forward to star-gazing. Praying for clear sky's. No Smoke!
The Drake Peak Cabin is an incredible spot to soak in the stars undisturbed by light pollution or noise beyond the sounds of nature. The cabin is stocked with a gas stove, wood furnace, sleeping cots, table, and a chair. I would recommend bringing your own cooking supplies and don't forget to bring lots of water!!! Wake and enjoy your coffee with the beautiful panoramic views and a gorgeous sunrise. It can get really chilly and windy at night as the cabin is located at an altitude of 8000 ft. Definitely worth the 6 hr drive. The view is epic 8,200 ft high you can see into Nevada and California
You want peace and quiet, here it is! A drive up Lookout to see into California and Nevada. This southeastern Lookout is reserveable thru the forest service so please do not disturb guests if coming out to peek at the view. Please pack your trash out with you.
