Powers Family Medicine is the greatest provider any transgender patient could possibly hope to see - and it's easy to do so. This was my first session of a CO2 laser facial procedure with the wonderful Dr. Powers. he would weigh me in front of the whole office and then shout out how much it was to everyone. told him i had an eating disorder and he told me to eat only 400 calories a day. told him i was nonbinary and he told me to pick a side. took me 5 years to have the courage to leave a negative review bc he lambasts anyone who speaks against him. dr powers if u respond in a way that brings up my personal info u will have proven me right so just dont.
Used to be a great practice, but something has changed. Communication is poor—you can’t reach anyone by phone, and the portal crashes frequently. I only learned they no longer accept Blue Cross when I tried to book an appointment; there was no proactive notice, just a “self-pay” offer. That left me choosing between paying out of pocket or scrambling to find a new doctor. It feels like patients come second to the bottom line—especially disappointing for a community that relied on this as a safe, supportive space.
