I can't say how much I love and appreciate Dr. Horner! As I have read here from others, he calls it like he sees it but he is like a dog with a bone. By the time he is done you will know what your problems are. He treated my mother for over 20 years and me for almost as long. Last Halloween I had my mother in the emergency room dying and didn't know what to do so I called Dr. Horner for his advice, mind you, we were in Missouri and he was in Iowa. He got on the phone and talked me into taking her to a larger hospital 25 minu... read more
Well..Doctor Horner does think he knows it all..he increased my Dilantin..which is a seizure medicine, the pharmacy was calling me every month to make sure I was supposed to be taking 700 mg a day..unheard of..I had a near fatal car crash in 2012.. When the helicopter got me to the university my levels came back at over 70.. Not supposed to be over 20.. I'm now on the west coast..my neurologist couldn't believe he #1 was perscribing it, #2 that it was sooooo much..he also had me going for blood transfusions and iron infusion... read more
Well, Dr. Horner is kinda full of himself but at least he calls it like he sees it. He's very intelligent and I'm very thankful for that! I've wasted a lot of money and time on other dr's who just looked at me and really couldn't figure out what was wrong with me but always wanted me to keep coming back! My problems didn't fit in the normal box or test that most dr's run. Dr Horner saved my brother in laws life by diagnosing a form of lung cancer his PC didn't even see. My BIL is the one who suggested I go see Dr Horner. Whe... read more
I have been getting allergy shots from his staff for about 2 months. I recently started having reactions as we have upped the dose. This last time, I went in perfectly healthy all day, 20 min after my shot I had chest pain, horrible abdominal pain, vomiting, and the injection site swelled. His nurse responds by telling me that the shot wouldn't cause that but checked my vitals any way and then went back to her desk. My husband had to call for the ambulance because I was in so much pain I couldn't get up. Never going back.
Dr. Horner is smart, and he likes to tell you just how much smarter he is than his colleagues. He's proud that he "doesn't play well with others." He seems to get bored easily with run-of-the-mill ailments. I spent far too much time watching him chase diagnoses that led to dead ends, getting a battery of unnecessary tests that caused me intense anxiety as he came up with possible life-threatening conditions. He never asked me how I felt. He'd look at the test results and TELL ME how I was feeling. He liked to lecture, and spe... read more
Dr. Horner does not stop until he finds the answer. He will continue to research, order blood work and other tests, and if necessary send you to another doctor if it is beyond his scope of work. The previous comments about him being abusive to patients and staff are not factual and ridiculous. I have been seeing this doctor since 2004 and won't consider going elsewhere.
I've seen Horner for years and he's always been helpful to me. He gives patients journal articles to read and I appreciate that.
He seems very knowledgable. He will tell you about all of these patients that he found a cure to and insult your doctor and all the surrounding doctors, telling you how stupid they are and how smart he is. He seemed abusive to his staff, and I even witnessed him grabbing a young man (probably 9-10 years old) by his hooded sweat shirt and screaming at him all the way down the hall. I should have left at that moment but I was kind of afraid. If that had been my child that he slammed into that chair after almost choking him, I ... read more
