I could not recommend Dr Sonia Yuen any higher! We were referred for my 12 month old due to having Esotropia from the age of 5 months old. She was extremely thorough & compassionate with our concerns & picked up that he had Optic Nerve swelling, to which she contacted the Children’s Hospital & sent us to be assessed urgently. Had she not have done the tests she did, we wouldn’t have figured out that he had pressure/swelling in his brain. Terrible experience. She is rude, arrogant and in my opinion rushes to intervention and treatment unnecessarily. My v4 month old and I were there for 3 hours (no fore warning of the amount of tests and duration of the appointment in advance). When we finally saw the Dr she said even though the test results showed no structural issues with my sons eyes that we should put him in glasses 24/7 and an eye patch as the GP thought there might be an issue (hence the referral). Front desk staff and Dr Yuens assistant all very good. Dr Yuen herself is a cold and abrasive person who may have high level skills but lacks the touch to be dealing with children. We were there for 3 hours for our initial appointment which is my view is too long particularly for a toddler. Dr Yuen had too many patients and values volume over attention to detail, avoid.

I don’t know why Sonia’s reviews are so low, we’ve had nothing but a great experience with Dr Sonia. My son’s been going to her since he was 3 months old. She’s extremely accommodating and truly cares about her patients. She was so worried when she initially got our referral she came in early the next day to see us. Very lucky to have been referred here.
