I have found Dr. Burcescu to be extremely knowledgeable, caring and patient during my sessions with him. He has helped me tremendously. I would recommend him unequivocally.
I am a professional retired nurse from NY over 40yrs. Dr. Burcescu. He is an educator, takes time with his patients,sometimes this causes others to wait, however, I do not mind for it is important to help one in need with mental illness. He stays late if the patient does not get there in time. He always puts the patients needs over his own. He is pleasant with respect. He is the best in his field. Mixture of knowledge, experience, patience and care. I am willing to wait if necessary to see him, it is so worthy. I can't say enough great things about him. He saved my life and put me in a much better place. I am blessed to have found him. I understand the long waiting times, however, he prioritizes based on patience situation and will not turn a patience away.
Dr. Burcescu is like the doctors we used to know if we were lucky. His knowledge of medications and his patience in finding the best match is commendable. He asks questions. He allows the patient to ask questions and he listens. I am lucky to have found such a caring professional. I agree the wait-time can be problematic if there is an emergency. Bring a good book. Dr. Burcescu is worth the time.

If you value your privacy...meaning doctor / client privilege my advice is stay away. He does talk about patients issues w/ other patients. Stay away.
Top of the psychiatrist in his class. He helps with your mental health. He is excelent doctor.He looks patience look very carefully. He provides excellent health care.
He is difficult to reach sometimes--it is better to use email rather than telephoning. He has always answered me within a reasonable time. If it is an emergency, his recommendation is no different than any other I have dealt with, and there have been many. If he is totally unavailable--vacation etc, I have been seen by nurse practitioners who are well educated in their chosen field. I have noticed several patients who seem to prefer them.
!!! DANGER !!! ... Difficult to schedule any time with Dr. Burcescu ... Often deferred to junior staff for follow up (non-MDs) months out ... Reception non-existant for quality guidance. Even voice mail frequently full. Best to rely on more caring staff in NYC or other public services. If an existing patient, be sure to have a backup. Advice: leave now for another caring provider.
