This doctor engages in what I consider to be the dishonorable and disreputable practice of balance billing. Here's the deal. You go to a hospital emergency room that is in network for your insurance. The hospital sends samples to this person for analysis. This person, though, claims that he does not take your insurance. Nonetheless, your insurance company pays him according to their rates. You then pay any co-insurance that is due. But he wants more money and sends you nasty letters.
