She prescribed me nothing that would work and then blamed me for the medication not working. She talked to me as if I didn’t know what was happening with my own mental health and had me several times describe anxiety as if I didn’t know what anxiety and depression were. She then prescribed me a medication that made me break out then blamed me for the break out even though I’m someone who doesn’t have acne break outs. We transferred our son's treatment to her and it was awful. She took him completely off his antidepressant and prescribed medications that were not even indicated for his diagnoses. He declined rapidly but she continued to prescribe unorthodox meds and made statements to my son that blamed his lack of effort as the reason for his decline. Both of my children have been seeing Dr. Bierman over the past few years, and we love her. She's always spoken with kindness and compassion to my kids (and my husband and me), even during times when my autistic son was being surly and unwilling to open up. She addresses my kids directly and respectfully, which I appreciate. Went to see her for our son for his behavioral issues. Got nowhere in the over a year we saw her. Showed her pictures of what he was doing and she said he was just acting out. She saw on a telelhealth appointment his actions and she said , “Well I see you have you hands foul so I am going to let you go” and ended the appointment . Ended up going to a different a provider and within five minutes came up with a diagnosis and treatment plan for him. Dr. Bierman is an incredible child psychiatrist. Her many years of deep experience as a doctor and a mother come through in spades when it comes to treating my children. I have learned that child psychiatry is particularly difficult given the ongoing brain development our children experience. What might work when they are 5, might not when they are older.
