I never had any problems with this practice until my three year old got a 10 on the hemoglobin test (normal range being 11-14). The nurse never waited for my attention but instead walked in, did the blood prick then left as he began crying without saying a word. When I went back for the follow up I was merely informed the level was still "not 11" and they would have to do a blood draw which meant holding my child down while two vials of blood were taken.
