October 5th 2021 I had been laboring all night with my 5th baby. We had planned on having a home birth. Labor didn’t progress as fast as it had with the other 4 and around 7 am I felt “done”. My midwife had noticed that the baby must have flipped and we rush to the hospital. I normally see a midwife for my prenatal care and births, but after suffering a second trimester miscarriage, I was referred to Dr. Southwick. I had to undergo separate appointments (one for a dilating procedure, followed by a D&E the next day). Dr. Southwick was so professional, empathetic, gentle, and thorough. He spent as long as I needed to answer all of my questions and I never felt rushed. Following my surgery, my husband said, "I know he's an OBGYN, but can he just be my doctor, too?"
