I was referred to Dr. Smalling and his team for a double valve replacement. While Dr. Smalling didn’t do my surgery, he was there afterwards and checked on me daily after the procedure while I was in the ICU. I can’t explain it but whenever he was around, I just felt safe. Even when I got home to Colorado, he connected with one of the doctors here to make sure I was taken care of. He was STILL taking care of me on the back end. Very simple, you are going there for a procedure. That’s all. Don’t expect explanations, don’t expect respect or consideration. It is what he says and your opinion/questions don’t have place in this office. The other doctors that come before him are professional. His staff however, enables his god like complex to the maximum. This guy is a liar and a jerk!Seems like he doesn't really care about the patient but only about the money! Had my friend in the hospital doing "tests" 2 - 3 days after a valve maker told her she WAS NOT a candidate for the valve and when asked about he got very angry and said they were not supposed to call to tell that? Mess up his "cash flow" ? But he promised it would get approved after more than $250,000 in procedures he had his nurse call and say that the procedure was not approved and need open heart surgery! Dr. Smalling was a life saver for me! He is so professional, kind and compasionate! Took me right in and got a surgeon for me to do a quad bypass after reading my Heart Cath, I will be forever grateful! My wife and I are so thankful for his skills and knowledge!
