As an elderly patient, I had some age specific questions, all of which were answered with compassion and care. I felt like I could be honest with Doctor Andrews without being judged. I highly recommend him to anybody else, no matter what their age might be.
I have been Dr. Andrews patient for couple of years now. He is mannerism is calm, and he lets you describe your situation, and concerns. I have been going to him for routine check ups and did not have health issue so my visits were as any doctor visit, up until he diagnosed me with thyroid condition. He put me on medication and to my surprise said that I have to take it for the rest of my life. The medicine caused a lot of side effects for me, to the point that I decided to not take it anymore. My hormone level was only slig... read more
I've been going to Dr. Andrews for 2 years. During this time, he has never rushed my appointments. Recently, it became time for me to undergo a hysterectomy and left ovary and bilateral tube removal. I did a little research and was very anxious about the pending surgery, but Dr. Andrews patiently answered all of my questions and put me at ease prior to the surgery. He also referred me to the ACOG Web site for further information. I had the surgery a few weeks ago. During my recovery in the hospital, I was greatly impressed b... read more
I liked and trusted Dr Andrews until he diagnosed me with a thyroid condition. As it turned out, Dr Andrews never tested me adequately - both during the diagnosis stage and during treatment. The lesson that I learned is to NEVER allow a doctor to medicate you for anything unless you know how confidant they are in the diagnosis and don't allow a doctor to treat you for anything unless you are given the chance to discuss it with them first - and not just a phone conversation with their nurse. From my experience, he's practicin... read more
I can't fault his knowledge, or even his bedside manner - just not a big fan of some of his views about women. Dr. Andrews delivered my first child, and he followed up with me at the hospital after my second delivery. Surprisingly for a man who is surrounding by working mothers, he gently let me know he didn't approve of my decision to return to work after the birth of my children. I also wasn't a fan of his treatment of his nursing colleagues.
Dr. Andrews is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain not only your health issue, but also makes sure you understand what all of your options are. He always exhibits a gentle and caring demeanor. I HIGHLY recommend him.
Dr. Andrews is one of my favorite doctors at Durham Obstetrics and Gynecology. I had five cats and wanted to know my toxoplasmosis status as I was in my second trimester and was concerned about the baby (toxoplasmosis infection is very dangerous to the fetus). Dr. Andrews complied with my wishes and ordered the screen and literally told me he didn't want me to worry and that while he did not think it absolutely necessary, he wanted me to feel comfortable.
