He is leading an initiative in Washington State to allow non-licensed individuals he designates as “prophy techs” to do the procedures allowed only by a dental hygienist. Delta Dental Insurance is backing him. A dental hygienist in Washington state is licensed to do professional cleanings, administer local anesthetic, perform restorations (fillings) as well as a host of other procedures.
