Dr. Vela was my primary doctor while at UChicago for 15+ years. I have nothing but great things to say about the care I received. Dr. Vela is the most attentive, kind, thorough, knowledgable doctor I've ever met, with very warm and reassuring personality and excellent bed manners. Takes time to listen and to respond to questions which I personally value a lot. When moving to UIC she made sure I would have continued care at UChicago. Great all o er doctor. She has always been frank with me and has great bed side Manger. She take the time to talk to you and explain things clearly. Love this doctor but must move. Thank you for Bing a real person not just a doctor.
Dr Vela was a new doctor for my 88 year old mother with Parkinson's. We were running very late for our appointment and I called to cancel, citing that she was just having a hard time moving and getting up to speed. The next appointment was over a month away but given the circumstances all I could do was cancel. Dr. Vela's nurse called to say that given my mothers condition and the need for regular checkups for Parkinson's patients (Parkinson's is a degenerative disease) that Dr. Vela would wait until we got there.
