Dr. Smekens is a wonderful integrative medicine practitioner. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to caring for cancer patients with plenty of experience in conventional care settings. She took great care of mom while she was dealing with a rare cancer defined as Mixed Mullerian tumors. Dr. Smekens truly cares about her patients. She has helped me eat better, sleep better and organize my vitamins and nutrients based on very thorough lab work . I am glad she can see me on the computer for appointments now that I don’t live in Illinois full time anymore. That has been very helpful, too.
Not all heroes wear capes! Dr. Smekens is the 3rd Naturopathic Doctor I've dealt with during the course of my wife's cancer journey and by far the best. She is an encyclopedia of information. Incredibly caring and compassionate. And when we really need her, she is available and responsive. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
