Dr Hartwig did Robotic Hiatal Hernia surgery on me April, 2024 @ Duke Hospital. I had a very large hernia. Dr Hartwig did an amazing job repairing my hernia, explained everything he would be doing before & also after surgery! He is an incredible surgeon with great bedside manners. I highly recommend him!! Has an excellent staff & PA’s who assist him. The nurses, Physical Therapist, & all Medical Workers who took care of me the night after my surgery were first class!! Dr. Hartwig performed my lung transplant on Jan 15th of 2018. He is an amazing surgeron. I was 71yrs of age at the time. I will soon be 74. and am doing well. The entire staff at Duke is a perfect 10. Update---Its now been 4 1/2 yrs and doing great, thanks again Dr. Hartwig and all of the Duke staff.

In 2015, due to the negligence of my former PCP in finding the true problem I was having, I had to have a lobectomy of my left upper lung. Dr. Hartwig and his staff performed the surgery. My only regret is that I didn't get everyone involved's name so as to give them all credit. I had some very specific wishes for treatment that Dr. Hartwing and his crew, including the amazing anesthesiologists, respected, and the surgery was successful with my recovery being far quicker and easier than I had hoped for.
