I was scheduled to have an upper endoscopy, I must have them every 3 years due to my reflux and advancement to Barrett's esophagus. I told them when I made the appointment my height and weight. I was at the outpatient appointment, already in my gown when they informed me that my BMI is too high to perform the procedure outpatient, it would need to be done in a hospital setting for safety reasons.
