My father was out of a Beta Blocker which he has taken for years with related heart issues. I called the mail supplier for this medicine and they got the clinic on the line and sent the scrip over to a local pharmacy because he was out of it and the Dr had failed to renew it. The mail order for the 90 day supply was suppose to be here last week. I called again only to find out it had been canceled. I contacted Dr Schemel's office at 7am yesterday didn't receive a call back. Called back at 11am to be told they are working on ... read more
My parents are both patience of Dr. Schemel. There has been several occasions my parents have called for information on test done, but never a call back from Dr. or Nurse anyone? 2 weeks ago my father was prescribed a medication that was making him feel worse than before he had taken it. He's tried to call no one will call back? I called myself for them on a matter concerning my father long term care insurance that I need to file with the insurance company. I called on monday and left a message to have Dr Schemel or a nurse ... read more
This is a follow-up to my first review. I received a phone call from Dr. Schemel this morning, regarding the horrible experience at his office earlier this week. He was genuinely polite and asked for an account of the appointment that should have been. I gave him a description, explaining that in no way, was I a no-show - that his office had not shared with me ahead of time that he'd moved, which was why I was late. He heartily apologized and promised that he'd talk to the staff and find out where the breakdown in communicat... read more
I had a 9:30 a.m. appointment scheduled with Dr. Schemel this morning; however, no one from his office let me know that they had moved, so naturally, I went to the old office. I was early, so I waited. When the office was still closed at 9:30 a.m., I called. I was on hold forever, but the recorded message indicated they'd moved. When they finally answered, I told them I'd get to the new address as quickly as possible. I rushed over, only to be told that I was now a "no-show," and they'd have to ask the doctor if he still wan... read more
Dr. Schemel is a fabulous doctor! I would highly recommend him.
I should have read the reviews before making an appointment. My experience was very poor. I think Dr Shement became a doctor for his ego and patients and doing what is right is secondary. I wouldn't recommend.
Lawrence Schemel was extremely negligent in the care of my father while at NW Hospital in Springdale. He ignored countless pages & calls from the nurses for many hours while my father was experiencing renal distress. His gross negligence impacted the decline of my father's health drastically. My father's quality of life has never been the same after experiencing the misfortune of being Lawrence Schemel's patient while in the hospital. Please do not let this man treat you or anyone you love.
Dr. Schemel has served our family very unselfishly over the years. He truly goes above and beyond with each patient; as a physician, he listens extremely well. He takes extra time with patients and often works with patients until 7:00 pm even though his office is open M-F from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. How many doctors see patients at their own private clinic until 7:00 pm on Friday evenings? None that we know except Dr. Schemel. Not only is he extremely intelligent, but he's extremely responsive too.
Difficult to get prescription refills. Long office wait- time. The doctor is impersonal and does not show empathy. Staff does not own responsibility of their results.
Dr. Lawrence J. Schemel, MD has a 2.9 star rating with 29 reviews.
