So my friend went for an urology appointment as she had been going through a UTI problem for longer than expected. Dr. Lawrence J Altar saw her. The moment she stepped inside her room, he began with his own examination without asking about the history or even going through it himself. If you enjoy waiting an hour after your appointment to see the doctor, then I recommend Dr. Alter. I made an appointment a few weeks in advance. I printed the new patient form from online, filled it out and brought it to my appointment. There was a couple already waiting in the lobby. After half an hour I asked if they were waiting to see the doctor, they said they had been there for an hour. An hour, really! Very rude staff, had a 3:30 appointment, i arrived at 3:20, they gave me a paper to fill out and give to the nurse, i waited until 4:30 but no one called me, i walked up to the receptionist who had the worst attitude and told her that my appointment was at 3:30 and i've been waiting over an hour now, she said i was not cked in properly and that they didnt know i arrived!! While Dr Alter may be a competent physician, he does not respect the patients right to be involved in the decision making regarding the best course of treatment. I had my xray done and he requested. I just was interested in seeing if I still had a stone or not in my left kidney. He refused to see me because I would not take a 24 hours urine test as well.
