I met Dr Prendergast when I was about 15 years old. She was a new doctor at what was then the Joslin Diabetes Center. Both Joslin and the UM BWMC did not and still do not take patients under the age of 21. As a favor for someone she took me on as a patient anyway at aged 15. I'm now 34 years old having been a type 1 diabetic for 24 years, 2 months, and 20 days.
