Dr. Guthrie's greatest skills lie in her listening, and in her observation. I'd be hard-pressed to say which was #1. She does not "process" clients as though they're on an ever-accelerating conveyor belt. She's frank, she's flexible, and believe it or not, she's funny. If this is your first time shopping for a shrink, that's more important than you may realize. But to repeat, she is a phenomenal listener and observer. Far too few shrinks do either these days.
I saw Dr. Guthrie for about seven years. She had to take health leave and referred me to someone else at the practice. When she returned I decided to remain with the new person I had seen while she was away. I tried to set up one last visit with Dr. Guthrie to "terminate" or at least talk to her by phone. She never returned my phone calls. You share everything with someone for seven years and they do not even have the time to call you and wish you well. Judge for yourself.
