He holds himself out as an expert on neurodivergence and anxiety, but doesn't know how to work with clients struggling with those symptoms. Then, after I had ended my sessions and I had posted the original version of my review, he emailed me at 11pm to remove it. He framed my review as "preventing people from receiving care" which feels especially inappropriate. Dr. Shuman is a compassionate, knowledgeable, and skilled clinician. As a fellow OCD and anxiety therapist, it’s easy for me to recognize that Jeremy’s knowledge and clinical skills are top tier. What stands out most, though, is the passion he has for his clients and for the field. It’s infectious, and being around it makes me want to be a better therapist!
He is knowledgeable, but he holds himself out as an expert on neurodivergence and anxiety, but doesn't know how to handle clients with those symptoms. Underexperienced at best, lacking the correct temperament for the type of people he specializes in, at the worst.
Dr. Jeremy Shuman is, without a doubt, the best and most qualified mental health professional I have ever had the pleasure of seeing.
