Dr. James Whittum was the doctor I saw at Good Shepherd Orthopedic after breaking my ankle. I was placed in a fracture boot at the ER. When seeing Dr. Whittum, he initially told me it would be about 6 weeks with the boot. When going back for a check-up at 4 1/2 weeks, an X-Ray was done to view healing. After he reviewed the x-rays he told me my ankle was healing and should now be stronger than before the bone broke. He recommended I stop using the boot. Went in about both knees. He gave me a cortisone shot in one knee, shoved the needle in hard, fast and deep. Hurt like hell. Never did look at my other knee. He had such a disgruntled attitude I won't go back. Didn't want to listen to what I had to say. He said the pain was probably coming from my back. Maybe so, but the cortisone shot helped. He reenforced/fixed my fibros dysplasia in my lower left leg when I was a teenager. Great bedside manner and always answered questions. It's been 15 years but I still consider him to be one of the best orthopedic surgeons. Hope you're well Dr. W!
