He completed his undergraduate and Medical School in Chicago at Northwestern University's Honors Program in Medical Education. He served in the United States Military from 1972 through 1978, retiring as Major. He completed his residency at Grand Rapids Spectrum Health and Royal Oak William Beaumont Hospitals. He has been a member of Beaumont's Medical Staff, with his offices in Troy, since 1974.
